Exhibition is more than winning ribbons and earning points towards Championships. Exhibition is a great way for breeders and pet owners to get together and share their love for cockatiels. For pet owners, it's a chance to see many different mutations on display and to meet breeders and ask questions. For breeders, it's an opportunity to learn about your own breeding program - how do your birds measure up to the standard and how do their measure up against birds from other breeders? What's missing in your bird to make it Top Bench material and does another breeder have what you are missing? Networking with fellow breeders and exhibitors at shows allows us to fine tune our breeding programs. I encourage you to locate a show in your area and attend!
2010 exhibiting at NECBE (New England Cockatiel Breeders & Exhibitors) show hosted in Amherst, NH on May 30, 2010, Harley accomplished an exciting milestone in her show career. While I was a Novice Exhibitor, Judge Royce Irwin placed Harley Best Novice. After judging the top advanced bench, he not only worked Harley up on the top bench, but he placed her Best in Show.
